Mr. Statz leads the Merger & Acquisition and ALM validation lines of business and assists with CECL & ALM and Concentration Risk Management.
Mr. Statz leads a team of analysts on the firm’s asset liability management and CECL business lines, focusing on the integration of interest rate and credit risk within financial modeling. Sean’s team performs ongoing ALM & credit loss analyses and uses the results to consult with clients on strategic decisions relating to balance sheet optimization and performance. His team also forecasts capital impacts under current and stressed economic environments as well as helps client’s improve returns through risk-based pricing strategies.
Mr. Statz also plays a key role on the firm’s fair value engagements including mergers and acquisitions. Sean and his team have advised on numerous credit union and bank mergers, ranging in asset size from less than $10 million to nearly $2 billion. The mergers have included organizations of varying financial conditions, from troubled institutions going through regulator-facilitated mergers to well performing strategic mergers of equals. He is an expert on business combination accounting, consulting clients on accounting implications at the acquisition date and the ongoing treatment of merger related accounts.
Prior to joining Wilary Winn, Sean worked at a large community bank in Wisconsin. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business with Bachelor’s Degrees in Risk Management and Finance.
